Introducing an External Graphics Card Powered by the RTX 4090M

Chinese brand Morefine has announced the G1 external graphics accelerator, poised to challenge conventional AMD-based solutions. The standout feature of this device is its use of high-end mobile GPUs from NVIDIA’s RTX 40 series, including the flagship RTX 4090M with 16GB of GDDR6 memory, opening new possibilities for professional rendering and 4K gaming on compact systems.

The G1’s key innovation lies in its interchangeable interface module, which adapts the docking station to various usage scenarios. For maximum performance, one module features an OCuLink port (PCIe 4.0 x4, up to 64 Gbps) along with a USB-C port that supports 85W charging. For PCs lacking an OCuLink port, an alternative module with two USB-C ports is available. This versatility makes the G1 a perfect match for laptops and mini-PCs, even those without specialized interfaces.

Despite its compact dimensions (140 × 100 × 54 mm and weighing only 700 g), the device can simultaneously output to four 4K displays thanks to its three video outputs (two HDMI 2.0 and one DisplayPort 1.4) and an additional USB-C port with video support. For peripheral connectivity, it offers three USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports and features a flexible cooling system with adjustable fan modes (Quiet, Auto and Max).

The entry-level version, featuring an RTX 4060 (8GB), is priced at $604, which is on par with budget gaming laptops. However, upgrading to the RTX 4080 (12GB) and RTX 4090M (16GB) pushes the price to $1,079 and $1,285, respectively. This tiered pricing makes the G1 attractive to both enthusiasts and professionals seeking uncompromised mobility and power.

The G1 sets itself apart from competitors that have long relied on similar solutions powered by the AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT. By transitioning to NVIDIA’s architecture, the device not only delivers enhanced performance but also expands support for advanced technologies like DLSS 3 and real-time ray tracing.
