NVIDIA Reportedly Preparing RTX 50 SUPER Series With Expanded Memory
New details have surfaced online about NVIDIA’s plans to release an updated line of graphics cards — the GeForce RTX 50 SUPER series. According to discussions on tech forums, the company is planning to boost the memory capacity on two models: the RTX 5080 SUPER will reportedly feature 24 GB of VRAM, while the RTX 5070 SUPER will offer 18 GB. That’s a 50% increase compared to the standard versions of these cards.
Sources claim the new cards will use GDDR7 memory with 3 GB modules, similar to those found in the mobile RTX 5090. However, experts caution that gamers shouldn’t expect a significant performance boost — the main upgrade here is the expanded VRAM. While the added memory could be a big plus for AI-related workloads and professional applications, 18 GB in the RTX 5070 SUPER should be more than enough for gaming, even at 4K resolution.
Insiders suggest that the SUPER lineup may be NVIDIA’s response to potential supply challenges affecting the base RTX 50 models. The company appears to be aiming to strengthen its position in a premium market segment where competition remains relatively weak. However, final pricing for the new cards will likely depend on external factors such as component costs and tariffs.
The RTX 50 SUPER series is expected to be officially unveiled no earlier than summer 2025. Traditionally, NVIDIA announces such refreshes about a year after the initial product launch. The reveal could happen during Computex, although exact dates have yet to be confirmed. One key question remains: will the market truly embrace these higher-memory models, especially given the struggles faced by the current RTX 50 lineup?
