Smartphone with Android, Windows, and Linux Support Unveiled

Nex Computer has introduced a new hybrid device called the NexPhone. This Android-based smartphone features native support for two additional operating systems—Windows 11 and Linux (Debian)—and is positioned as a universal solution capable of replacing both a user's smartphone and desktop PC.

The NexPhone operates in three main modes. It uses Android 16 without pre-installed third-party software as the daily phone OS. Linux (Debian) can be launched directly from within the Android environment as a separate app with a full graphical interface, while accessing Windows 11 requires a reboot into dual-boot mode. When connected to an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse, the device transforms into a desktop. In this mode, users have access to Android Desktop Mode, a full Linux desktop, or Windows 11. When using Windows directly on the smartphone screen, a special mobile interface activates, optimized for touch control without a mouse.

The device is built on the Qualcomm QCM6490 platform. The smartphone features a 6.58-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 12 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of internal storage, along with a microSD card slot. Another standout feature is its enhanced protection against external elements, rated at IP69. This dust and water resistance makes the device appealing for use in field conditions. The relatively compact 5,000 mAh battery supports both wireless and wired (18W) charging.

The NexPhone is not the first device to offer a desktop mode feature. Similar solutions were previously introduced by Samsung (DeX) and Microsoft (Continuum). However, their approach was limited to either a single primary OS or failed to gain widespread traction. The NexPhone distinguishes itself precisely through the ability to choose between three independent systems.

The estimated price of the device is $549. The package will include a USB-C hub for connecting peripherals. The company has already opened pre-orders, with mass shipments scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026.
