Alicemare is an adventure game that combines exploration and storybook and fairytale motifs with subtle touches of horror. Its protagonist, a boy named Allen, has lost both his memory and his parents. Living in a home for lost children, he sets out to investigate a rumor he heard from the other children.

As Allen explores, the story reveals more about the world and its inhabitants. The White Rabbit and the Cheshire Cat accompany him on his journey, though the former shows little interest in being a guide, while the latter can appear and disappear at will.
