Aquaria is a metroidvania set in a vast underwater world filled with living creatures and ancient secrets. Naija, a solitary ocean dweller, searches for her family as she explores dark caves and sunlit places beneath the sea. Her story is told through voice-over narration.

Naija can sing songs that alter the waters around her. Learning new songs grants her abilities, while powerful melodies let her change form. The player explores the ocean, uses songs and spells, fights dangerous creatures, and solves puzzles.
