Assassin's Creed 3: Remastered

Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered is a third-person action-adventure game with stealth elements set in a historical context and an open world. The player embarks on a journey to North America during the War of Independence (18th century). The series introduces a new hero, a half-Indian from the Mohawk tribe, who seeks to stop the greedy Templars. A movement system using trees has been introduced, along with new weapons and new capabilities.

In March 2019, Ubisoft released Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered – a version refined for the then-current PS4 and Xbox One. The changes primarily affected the visual component:

The action of Assassin's Creed takes place in the mid-18th century, in three game locations – Boston, New York, and the Frontier (wild lands). The filling of the game world, style, and clothing all reflect the era of the New Time.

Urban levels are recreated in detail – with port infrastructure, churches, garrisons, banks, theaters, factories, residential buildings, and a simulation of human activity. The developers have succeeded in conveying life during that time, with up to 2,000 NPCs present on the level simultaneously.

The Frontier is a typical Ubisoft location, a large open world simulating wildlife and dangerous predators, covered with forests, lakes, and rivers. The game features several smaller locations.

The sequel introduced a new character – Connor Kenway, who is one of Desmond Miles' ancestors, whose story unfolds in the present. Connor is the grandson of the protagonist Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag Edward Kenway.

In addition to the standard set of assassin skills, such as endurance, intuition, parkour, and the leap of faith, he is a master of the bow, throwing knives, and poison darts. In addition to the hidden blade, he uses a tomahawk, which he throws accurately at enemies or uses for frequent close combat strikes. When necessary, he throws smoke grenades.

Connor, after drinking tea from the red willow, can connect with the spirits of his ancestors. From the Celestial World, he receives three powers of spiritual animals – strength from the bear, speed and agility from the eagle, and camouflage and control over the pack from the wolf.

Assassin's Creed 3 is a direct continuation of Assassin's Creed: Revelations, with events in our time beginning where they left off earlier. Desmond, along with his father, Rebecca, and Shaun, finds the Temple of the First Civilization, where they activate all the equipment and learn about the apocalypse scheduled for December 21, 2012.

To prevent the catastrophe, the team will search for a certain key, which only Connor may know. Upon arriving in the 18th century, the player learns not only the backstory of the new character but also meets key figures of that time, such as George Washington, and participates in key events in U.S. history – the Boston Tea Party and the War of Independence.

For the first time in the Assassin's Creed series, the plot features numerous characters, presented with unprecedented cinematic flair, with events in the past and present unfolding simultaneously. The player is forced to immerse themselves in political struggles and spends a lot of time in dialogues with various leaders.

In the present day, Desmond tries to figure out how to save humanity, while the writers reveal all the cards about the origins of mankind and the role the First Civilization played in it.

In one of the expansions, Connor finds himself in an alternate reality where, after victory and gaining Independence, the Apple of Eden falls into the hands of George Washington. Going mad, Washington proclaims himself king and begins a tyranny over the native population. Now Connor must kill Washington and rid the world of the Apple of Eden.

The gameplay of Assassin's Creed 3 is linear and does not offer freedom of choice – the player must successfully complete each mission, for which there are two methods. The first requires stealthily infiltrating the target location, silently eliminating each unnecessary enemy, completing the objective, and then sneaking away unnoticed.

For this, the player can utilize a wide range of Connor's new abilities – "eagle vision," lock-picking skills, hearing the heartbeat of enemies around, and even determining the path they took a few seconds ago.

The second method is to fight through, for which all available weapons will come in handy. However, making noise means being ready to fight against the superior forces of the British crown – they will promptly arrive at the alarm.
