Unlocks Unreal Engine 5 settings for more stable FPS, smoother performance, and cleaner visuals. DET — Definitive Engine Tweaks gives you full control over performance and graphics quality with a pre-configured preset for any PC.
This mod:
- Reduces stutter and improves frame pacing;
- Cleans up visuals by disabling motion blur, depth of field, chromatic aberration, vignette, and other unnecessary post-processing effects;
- Optimizes texture streaming and shader cache.
Preset included:
- Base optimization (clean visuals, no visual clutter)
- Balanced performance preset for most PCs;
- Removes unnecessary post-effects (motion blur, vignette, DOF, chromatic aberration);
- Optimized texture streaming and asynchronous loading;
- Improved shader cache handling (less stutter, faster startup);
- Engine-wide tweaks for smoother gameplay and more stable FPS.
How to install:
- Find the config folder: C:\Users\<YourUserName>\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 4\Saved\Config\Windows
- Replace <YourUserName> with your Windows username. Example: C:\Users\Vercadi\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 4\Saved\Config\Windows.
Prepare the INI file:
- Open the folder above;
- Find the Engine.ini file;
- If it already exists, make a backup;
- If the file doesn't exist, right-click → New → Text Document → rename it to Engine.ini;
- Open the desired preset, copy all the text, and paste it into Engine.ini;
- Save and close the file.
Set to "Read-only" (important):
- Right-click Engine.ini → Properties → check "Read-only" → click OK. This prevents the game from overwriting your settings.
Uninstall/restore default:
- Delete Engine.ini (the game will generate a new default file) or uncheck "Read-only" and reset settings in-game.
