This arcade shoot ’em up unfolds in a gothic world, with several storylines following characters who battle enemies aboard combat ships. The story mode offers a selection of characters, and events vary according to the chosen combination; a two-player cooperative mode is also available. The Element Shot system provides three shot types and lets players raise weapon levels.

Alongside the story mode, the game includes Rush and Score Attack modes, a tutorial, and a gallery of images. The Shame Break system displays special illustrations of characters and bosses as they take damage. Online leaderboards track rankings in selected modes.
