About the Game

This first-person futuristic adventure follows Captain Blood, who becomes trapped inside his own game about aliens and space travel. After being accidentally cloned, he spends 800 years tracking down his copies; by the start of the game, five remain to be found and disintegrated.

The player explores space aboard the biological ship Ark and speaks with aliens to earn their trust and learn where the clones are. Negotiations use UPCOM, an interface of around 150 conceptual icons. Each alien race has its own language and responds differently, so the player must adapt their approach. As time passes, Blood’s health deteriorates and the cursor shakes more, making control harder; disintegrating a clone temporarily eases these symptoms.

Score: 6.8/10

Captain Blood is a nostalgic relic, interesting first and foremost as an artifact of its era and a monument to the turbulent history of the Russian games industry.
