Danganronpa 2x2 slips to 2027, with GTA 6 cited as one reason
When a Japanese studio announces a delay, the usual line is about quality and needing more time. Kazutaka Kodaka skipped that script entirely in an interview at Anime Expo 2026. Asked point-blank whether it had anything to do with Grand Theft Auto 6, the creator of Danganronpa laughed and answered: "I wouldn't have time to make the game while playing Grand Theft Auto 6." He didn't deny it.

Danganronpa 2x2 Delayed to Early 2027, Adds Slayhem Mode and 3D Island Map
Spike Chunsoft has announced that Danganronpa 2x2, the reimagined visual novel developed by Gemdrops and Too Kyo Games, will now launch in early 2027 instead of the previously planned 2026 release. The news was revealed during Anime Expo, and the game already has a Steam page.
