Darkout is a science-fiction action platformer with role-playing and sandbox elements, centered on survival on Illuna, a world of harsh, procedurally generated biomes. After a crash, the stranded protagonist explores a planet humanity tried to leave behind and uncovers records that offer clues to the events behind its ongoing chaos.

Players gather and mine resources, conduct research, craft weapons, armor, devices and furniture, and build shelters. Light-sensitive shadow creatures become more active in darkness, while periods of twilight provide a safer chance to explore and collect materials. Logs left by other inhabitants gradually reveal Illuna’s history.
