This cooperative zombie survival game takes place in a procedurally generated city whose buildings can be explored for supplies. Players can alter the environment by breaking individual blocks, modifying existing structures, or building custom bases. The game can be played solo or with other players.
To fight the zombies, players craft weapons and supplies, while surviving helps characters gain skills and bonuses. Survival mode focuses on scavenging, combat, and base building; Defense mode brings an approaching horde, and in Last Life, a character's death ends the game. Creative mode lets players modify a city and then use it in another mode.
