Famaze is a retro-styled roguelike puzzle adventure in which a knight, thief, or wizard ventures into the Mad King's changing dungeons to rescue the land's kidnapped rutabagas. The king has turned them into monsters to guard his domain while he searches for the perfect rutabaga pudding recipe. The heroes must find the Gem of Truth and uncover the recipe's secret.

The dungeons are procedurally generated, so their layouts change between runs. Players choose one of three heroes with distinct abilities, solve puzzles, use environmental features, and collect items such as potions, fireballs, teleport orbs, and magic crystals. Dungeons contain treasure chests, pit traps, healing blocks, and magic beacons; hidden artifact pieces and run statistics provide additional goals.
