An action racing game about driving heavy trucks that can be transformed into combat vehicles. In GearGrinder, races can focus on speed or turn into battles with ranged weapons and melee attacks, and the two approaches can be combined. Trucks and the environment are destructible, while the camera can switch between a first-person view from the cab and a third-person view.

The single-player campaign includes six minigames. Trucks and weapons can be upgraded, including with money earned from successful deals. Online multiplayer supports up to eight players, who can compete in deathmatch or team up in co-op to take down rival trucks.
