The game follows Rei, a human spirit who must defeat mystical nature entities, Kami, to obtain their power. The game features a dynamic difficulty system: the strength of each boss changes depending on the order in which they are defeated. The enemy chosen first may turn out to be the final boss on a different route, making the choice of order an important part of the strategy.
The combat system is based on sword attacks, dodges, overhead strikes and other basic actions, but with each new Kami defeated, Rei gains unique abilities. These can be dashes with power-ups, weapons for executing enemies, healing and other skills that expand the tactical possibilities in battles and make each playthrough special.
