This choice-driven adventure is set in an alternate 1857, when the Western world has united into a colonial superpower known as the Protectorate. Devan Rensburg, a man of mixed heritage and steward aboard the merchant ship HLV Herald, is sailing to his country of birth. During the perilous voyage, he must uncover a mystery surrounding the ship and keep the peace among its crew and passengers by resolving their everyday disputes.
The player explores the ship and makes decisions that shape the branching story. Crew members and passengers have secrets of their own and try to persuade Devan to help them; his choices determine whether he stands up for the downtrodden or seeks favor with the elite. The story examines inequality and a society divided by race, class, and culture.
