This dance rhythm game challenges players to match step patterns to the music. In the Groove offers single-player, two-player, and Double Pad modes, with up to five difficulty levels for each song, from beginner to expert.

The game features more than 70 songs across a range of genres and over 550 step patterns. Modifiers alter the arrows, making them spin, change speed, move in a boomerang path, or travel in 3D, while other effects add challenges. Its choreography also includes mines, hands, and quads, and songs and courses can be unlocked through play.
