Ithaca

An adventure role-playing game about ecological resistance, made in the spirit of road movies: the essence here is not in the destination, but in the road itself and what it does to the heroine. The main character is Penelope, an environmental lawyer in her thirties, who has spent ten years unsuccessfully suing oil giants and has ultimately lost faith in the system. She is heading to a place called Ithaca to meet with her comrades from the "Earth Defense Association." However, in the trunk of her car lies a bound person — the boss of a major oil company, whom she has kidnapped.

The entire game revolves around this long road and the main question: will Penelope see her plan through to the end, or will the journey break her? The plot reacts to the player's decisions, and the heroine's character can be developed through experience points — this affects skill checks that unlock new branches of conversations and events. Along the way, she will need to call and message various people, search for hidden clues, and piece them together to reach one of seven possible endings.
