Dark Souls Creator Explains Why He Doesn’t See the “Soulslike” Genre as the Studio’s Achievement
Hidetaka Miyazaki, a key figure at FromSoftware and the creator of Dark Souls, has unexpectedly downplayed the studio’s status as the “inventor” of the Soulslike genre. According to him, FromSoftware didn’t so much create something fundamentally new as it did tap into an existing demand from players.
