A platform action game about Kirby exploring Dream Land and setting out to restore the Star Rod, the source of energy for the Dream Spring. After waking from a dreamless sleep, he discovers that King Dedede has stolen the rod and split it into pieces scattered across seven worlds. Without it, the people of Dream Land face a lifetime of nightmares.

Kirby crosses land, sea, and sky, battling enemies and collecting the pieces of the Star Rod. His special ability lets him take on the powers of his foes and use them in combat. The adventure’s goal is to restore the rod and save Dream Land’s inhabitants.
