This mod, Wiside-Multisplit for MiSide, combines my two unfinished projects — one for split-screen, the other for multiplayer. The mod features 3 additional modes plus the standard one, which can be switched using the F1–F4 keys.
Modes:
- F1 — Standard: regular gameplay without the mod.
- F2 — Split-screen: the second player controls a mannequin using my movement code. The mannequin cannot interact with the world, only observe and visually assist the main player. Since everything runs in a single copy of the game, both players see a synchronized world (which is standard for split-screen). The second player is controlled via a gamepad, and can teleport to the main player by pressing the Start button.
- F3 — Multiplayer: a copy of the player is created, but the world and Mitas are not synchronized. However, all animations of the second player — crouching, opening doors, cabinets, drawers, etc. — are visible to both players. Connection is handled through free Photon servers, so you don't need to enter anything; just enter the scene and it will connect automatically.
- F4 — Multisplit: this mode combines multiplayer and split-screen. For now, it works so-so, because the network player cannot see the animations of the player using the gamepad in split-screen on the other player’s side.
The mod works on Melonloader. It was ready two weeks ago, and I thought MiSide had already lost its popularity. But you might have seen that QuestionBlock64 released his multiplayer mod literally 3 days ago, and it gained quite a bit of popularity — which means MiSide is still alive. So I want to add some interest to the situation and either become a competitor or a friend (we'll see how it goes) for QuestionBlock64.
*I probably won’t be able to synchronize the world and Mitas, but that’s just what I think for now. Time will tell!*
Installation:
- To install the mod, download Melonloader 0.7.2, run the game once so it creates all the necessary folders. Then drop the mod file into the MiSide\Mods folder, and the libraries (included in the mod archive) into MiSide\UserLibs.
Main features:
- Automatic connection;
- Full synchronization of all player animations (even in cutscenes);
- Synchronization of opening drawers and cabinets in the scene with ghost-Mita (for testing);
- 4 game modes.
Requirements:
- Melonloader 0.7.2
Known issues:
- Sometimes the second player lags — restarting the game helps.
- No synchronization of Mitas and the world.
- The free Photon plan is used, so if there are too many players, the server may not let new people in.
Acknowledgments:
- Thanks to the MiSide developers for such a masterpiece. Special thanks to gameknight963 for the Multiside mod, which became an example and inspiration for me.
