A real-time strategy game with city-building and adventure elements, Northland is set in a world drawn from Norse mythology. Banished from Asgard by Odin, Loki plots revenge and lays traps for four heroes: Sigurd the Frank, Hatschi the Saracen, Bjami, and Crya. They must help their allies and face threats including a serpent plague and an unexpected visit from the demon wolf Fenris.

Players explore unknown territories, establish trade routes with other tribes, and grow a humble settlement into a large city while ensuring the wellbeing of its inhabitants. Inexperienced fighters can develop into renowned heroes, and the campaign features quests and adventures. Three difficulty levels are available.
