This squad-based tactical RPG follows a team of mercenaries sent through a mysterious wormhole to gather technology for their employer. The journey becomes one-way, leaving the crew to explore a galaxy of uncharted worlds, warring factions, and dangerous aliens.

Players pilot their ship between planets and direct the squad in combat, issuing orders to individual crew members or controlling the team as a whole. Crew members gain skills and technologies through research into alien artifacts, and can be improved with better equipment. Unneeded items can be broken down into Matter to enhance the team, while the ship can be built up and explored. Difficulty settings include a mode in which character deaths are permanent.
