Rocket Riot is an 8-bit side-view shooter in which players battle enemies across destructible arenas. It features more than 200 single-player missions set in stylized worlds, as well as multiplayer battles, with bosses and mini-bosses among the opponents.

Players can blast through arenas with rockets, take cover behind obstacles, or burrow through the map to launch surprise attacks. Destroyed objects regenerate over time, while power-ups provide various effects. Progress unlocks characters, with more than 300 to discover, and the game includes 20 power-ups.
