This isometric role-playing game is set in the fantasy kingdom of Klantol, where the appearance of monsters leads King Marcel to announce a tournament to find a defender for the country. Players choose from four hero classes: Brawler, Priestess, Dark Wizard, or Ninja, each with distinct strengths and weaknesses.

Heroes fight enemies in single-player or cooperative multiplayer modes and can equip weapons and armor. They can also gather Force Links, which combine to form a Shining Force, a powerful weapon used against enemy forces.
