The game has a great quick map, but to see it you need to hold a key, and it covers the whole screen. This mod keeps that same map on screen as a small minimap in the corner. It follows you as you move and disappears whenever the game takes control. Features:
- The game's native map: same map, icons, markers, and player arrow, centered on you and following you as you walk;
- Only during free gameplay: fades out during dialogues, phone calls, cutscenes, examining and picking up items, reading notes, and inventory interactions, then fades back in;
- No conflicts with the game: the quick map key still opens the full map, the main map (M) works as before, floors are supported;
- Doesn't cover the interface: item notifications and the money counter move below the minimap;
- Ultrawide support: on 21:9 and 32:9, the minimap and HUD are at the screen edges, not in the centered 16:9 area;
- Fits the style: framed with the game's torn-paper art, just like other UI elements;
- F7 turns the minimap on and off (setting is remembered between sessions);
- Corner, size, scale, opacity, fade time, and border are configurable;
- No game files are changed or replaced.
How to launch:
- Close the game;
- Extract the whole ZIP into the game folder where Carpenter.exe is located (Steam: right-click Silver Pines > Manage > Browse local files);
- Start the game. The first launch will take 1-3 minutes with nothing on screen — BepInEx is setting up (requires internet once). Later launches are normal;
- BepInEx 6.0.0-be.788 is included: this game needs a recent BepInEx 6 bleeding-edge build, stable 6.0.0-pre.2 does not support this Unity version. If you already have BepInEx be.788 or newer, you only need BepInEx\plugins\SilverPinesMinimap;
- Steam Deck / Linux (Proton): add this to the game's launch options: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command%.
Settings:
- BepInEx: BepInEx\config\pl.notgeese.silverpines.minimap.cfg;
- ToggleKey: on/off key (default F7);
- Top / Right: screen corner;
- Width, Height, MarginX, MarginY: size and position;
- MapScale: lower value shows more of the map (default 0.5);
- Opacity: from 0.2 (see-through) to 1 (solid);
- StretchHud: on ultrawide screens, HUD and minimap at the edges (default true);
- MoveNotifications: item notifications and money counter below the minimap (default true);
- FadeSeconds, SettleSeconds: fade time and delay after interactions;
- BorderOpacity, BorderWidth: dark torn border.
Screen sizes:
- Sizes are given in UI units for a 1920x1080 screen and scale with your resolution, so the defaults fit any 16:9 screen: on 3840x2160, the 420x300 minimap will be 840x600 pixels in the top-right corner. For a larger minimap, try Width=520, Height=370 (Height = Width x 0.71 keeps the shape).
How to uninstall:
- BepInEx: delete winhttp.dll, doorstop_config.ini, .doorstop_version, changelog.txt and the BepInEx and dotnet folders from the game folder; to remove only the minimap — BepInEx\plugins\SilverPinesMinimap.
