A two-player action game with strategy and puzzle elements, Spy vs. Spy follows two rival spies competing inside an embassy. Players search its interconnected rooms for secret items to pack in a briefcase, then try to leave the building before their opponent or the timer.
The spies can fight hand to hand and set traps on doors and furniture. A trap goes off when either spy opens a rigged door or searches a piece of furniture, so it can catch its owner as well as the rival. Some furniture holds remedies that can defuse traps. Later levels add more rooms, expanding the play area.
