StarMade is a voxel-based space sandbox about exploring a procedurally generated universe and building ships, stations, and bases. Players can travel among galaxies, stars, and planets, salvage resources from space stations, and battle pirates or rival factions in multiplayer.

Ships can be fitted with customisable weapons, while gathered materials can be manufactured in factories. Other activities include trading, forming alliances, creating warp gates, taking part in fleet battles, and vying for control of galaxies. Single-player and multiplayer worlds can be customised.
