A strategy board game about building a railway company, delivering goods and competing for profitable routes. In Steam: Rails to Riches, players issue shares, lay tracks, upgrade towns and locomotives, and choose goods to transport across a network of stations and rail lines.

Deliveries earn victory points or increase income, so players must balance investment in expansion against the goal of scoring the most points. The game supports play against AI, with friends, or online, and offers maps for 3–5 players as well as three AI difficulty levels with individual strategies.
