This 3D platformer blends action and puzzle elements as players explore a castle and its grounds in search of 150 Power Stars. The adventure features Mario, Yoshi, Luigi and Wario, each with abilities that help overcome obstacles and find stars. Yoshi can eat enemies and turn them into eggs, Mario can punch and kick and jump off walls, Wario can break certain blocks, and Luigi can jump high.

Power Flowers grant characters extra abilities, including invisibility, fire breath and the power to float. Alongside the adventure, the game includes touch-sensitive mini-games and a wireless versus mode for competing with up to three friends.
