A role-playing game combining tavern management with interactive fiction, Tavernier is set in a medieval fantasy world. The protagonist runs an inn in a town hiding a dark secret, managing supplies and decorations while paying weekly taxes.

A varied cast of customers visits the tavern, and conversations let the innkeeper choose how to respond to their problems. These decisions affect the business and can have consequences for the entire town. Random events and encounters add variety, while the choices lead to multiple endings.
