A patcher that unlocks new functionality for mod authors. It allows you to create new interior cells and entries in the string table.

How to launch:Unpack MagicLoader into the root folder of the game. As a result, you should have:

  • Steam: Oblivion Remastered\MagicLoader\MagicLoader.exe;
  • GamePass: The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\MagicLoader\MagicLoader.exe

Install mods as usual:

Place esp files in:

  • Steam: Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data\;
  • GamePass: The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data\ (MagicLoader does not currently include any .esp files; this is just a reference for where such mods should go).

MagicLoader json files should be located in:

  • Steam: Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data\MagicLoader\
  • GamePass: The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data\MagicLoader\ (json files should come with mods that use MagicLoader; the tool itself does not include them).

Pak mods should be placed in:

  • Steam: Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Paks\~mods;
  • GamePass: The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\OblivionRemastered\Content\Paks\~mods (MagicLoader does not contain built-in pak mods. They are generated when you run the tool).
  1. Run MagicLoader.exe, located at the path above. If it is installed in the correct folder, but the program still says it is in the wrong place, try running it as administrator. The issue may be related to file permissions in protected folders, such as the default Steam installation directories.
  2. MagicLoader will notify you if it detects any problems, such as being in the wrong folder. It will also show you how many compatible mods were found.
  3. Click "Do Magic" and wait for the program to patch your mods.
  4. If everything was successful, you will see the message "The magic was successful!"
  5. Congratulations! The new mod data has been injected into the remaster. Close MagicLoader and launch Oblivion.

MagicLoader needs to be run every time you add or remove a mod that uses it, so the program can detect and inject that mod's data.

If you want to remove MagicLoader, simply run MagicLoader.exe and click "Undo Magic"—the patches will be removed. It is recommended to exit any mod-added locations in advance, as the game may not handle loading into a place that no longer exists.

If you want to remove a mod for MagicLoader:

  1. Delete that mod's json file from the following folder:
  2. Steam: Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data\MagicLoader\
  3. GamePass: The Elder Scrolls IV- Oblivion Remastered\Content\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data\MagicLoader\
  4. Run MagicLoader.exe;
  5. Click "Do Magic" and wait for the patching process to finish.

If you just want to apply the patches and move on, use mlcli.exe instead of MagicLoader.exe. This is a command-line version of the tool that immediately applies patches and exits—convenient for automation and other specific cases.
