Trash Panic is a puzzle game with strategy elements about fitting as much waste as possible into a bin without letting it overflow, while disposing of it in an eco-friendly way. A crane drops items into the bin, and the player controls the speed and direction of their fall. Waste can be broken down or handled using elements found during a stage; each stage also features a giant boss item that must be destroyed within a time limit to avoid a penalty.
The main mode progresses through six stages of increasing difficulty. Vs. Mode pits two players against each other on the same screen, while Mission Mode consists of mini-games based on waste management. At the end of each stage, the game rates how eco-friendly the result was, and these ratings help unlock levels and modes.
