How to Get the Spirit Ashes of Jolana and Anna in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree: Emir's Questline Walkthrough

The Spirit Ashes of Jolana and Anna represent a unique type of spectral summon in Shadow of the Erdtree for Elden Ring. They can only be obtained by merging two ashes found in a secret location. We have prepared a detailed guide explaining how to obtain these spirit ashes and where to find both parts of this rare summon.

The process of obtaining the Spirit Ashes of Jolana and Anna involves several stages, most of which are related to completing the respective quests of Count Emir and Hand of the Night Sword Jolana. The decisions you make at the end of Jolana's questline will determine if you can obtain this rare spirit ash.

Below we have outlined a brief list of actions you need to take:

These items are given to the hero by Emir during the first meeting with him in the Cathedral of Manus Metir. Emir tasks you with finding the sacred ruins where, according to legends, the hero's fate will be determined by the stars after ringing the bells.

The first map will lead you to Ria's Finger Sanctuary Ruins, located on the Southern Shore and near the Azure Coast. Follow these steps:

When you are in the ruins, head to the northern part and ring the hanging bell in the center. To do this, you need to use the Necklace with Holes that Emir gave you along with the first ruin map.

Once you find the first bell and ring it, head to Emir and talk to him. This will give you the second map and reveal the location of the next ruins. They are located in a hidden region of the Inner Lands, at the easternmost point of the Shadow Haven.

You will also need to visit the village of Bonni to learn the gesture Oh Mother. To do this, head to the site of grace Shadow Haven, Rear Gate, jump to the other side of the village, and move north to the dried gray tree, under which there is a statue with a purple item. After completing all the actions, you can head through the Inner Lands to the second finger ruins.

All that remains is to reach the center of the ruins and ring the hanging bell again.

The last ruin map will lead to the Cathedral of Manus Metir. The ruins are located in an underground location, so you will have to wait for Emir to leave his throne to get here.

After receiving the third ruin map, rest at the nearest site of grace to refresh the area. When you return, Emir should be gone. Interact with his throne to activate the button that opens the hidden underground entrance.

Note: Emir may disappear before you obtain the third ruin map. In this case, you can descend, but these actions will break the quest.

Descend the stairs, and you will arrive at the Miir Finger Ruins. Here, you will face an invader named Night Sword Anna. She does not pose a significant threat to well-leveled heroes. After defeating her, proceed to the end of the ruins and ring the hanging bell one last time. Note that this action will trigger a boss fight with Metir, Mother of Fingers.

To obtain Yolanda's Spirit Ash, you need to complete her quest chain and give her the Rainbow of Grace. This is critically important because if you choose another path and give her the Rainbow of Darkness, you will receive a good weapon, the Night Sword, as a reward for completing her quest, but you will also block the ability to obtain her spirit ash.

Yolanda's quest line is relatively short compared to other characters in Shadow of the Erdtree. As long as you return to the cathedral and talk to her after activating each bell in the Finger Sanctuary ruins, you do not need to perform additional actions, except for the single fight with the Mother of Fingers.

After defeating Metir, Mother of Fingers, return to the cathedral and interact with Emir's throne again. Yolanda will invade your world and attack the hero.

Defeating Yolanda is not difficult compared to other bosses in Elden Ring. Her blade causes bleeding, but she has no complex attacks, and her basic sword strikes are easy to dodge. The opponent will fall rather quickly, but be cautious, as Emir will invade your world immediately after her defeat. Make sure you are prepared for another strong enemy.

The final boss of this quest chain has a health bar similar to a boss and various spells that he can use against the hero. The enemy can also summon fingers. We advise you to eliminate such enemies as quickly as possible to focus on the fight with Emir.

Use Emir's throne and other large objects in the cathedral, such as columns, to shield yourself from some of his magical attacks. The throne, in particular, can serve as a convenient cover from his spells. Emir is not a particularly difficult opponent. The only thing to watch out for is his large finger shield grabs, which can rise from the ground and deal damage to the hero. However, this spell is easy to avoid if you keep your distance. But even with this, there will be no problems, as Emir often teleports around the arena.

After defeating Emir, rest at the site of grace in the Cathedral. When you get up, you will notice Yolanda standing in her usual place — by the column in the central part of the cathedral. This is where you need to give her the Rainbow of Grace to receive the desired spirit ash.

If you do not have the option to give her the Rainbow of Grace, it means that the item has not yet been found. In this case, select Leave and go search for it. To find the Rainbow, fast travel to the site of grace Warehouse, First Floor in Shadow Altus and use the elevator located in the first corridor to the left in the western part.

On the lower level, turn right and descend the stairs into a room teeming with monsters. Go through the second part of the room and turn left to reach the back of the room. The Rainbow of Grace is located near a small altar in the dark. Once you have it, return to the cathedral to give the item to Yolanda.

When you give the Rainbow of Grace to Yolanda and receive her spirit ash, fast travel to the site of grace Inner Lands and climb the elevation in the southeast of the location.

At the top of the slope, you will see the Shaman Village. Here you can find several useful items if you have not been to this place before. Among them is the Minor Erdtree, which is located in the center of the glowing flower field at the entrance and continuously heals allies. You can also find the Golden Scythe Talisman at Marika's statue in the tree to the south, which significantly enhances resistance to holy damage. On a ledge right above the glowing flower field lies Marika's Rune, giving 80,000 runes at once.

But your main goal here is to reach the top of the Shaman Village to find a small passage in the rock.

Run along the path and descend the ledges. Be careful, as you can fall and kill your hero!

Eventually, you should climb the spire of Rabat's Elevation. When you reach the lower part of the grassy ledges, you will see a stone balcony.

Jump onto this balcony, and you will find yourself on a narrow path overlooking the upper room inside the spire. Here you will find the Night Sword Anna Doll. All you need to do is interact with this marionette and escort Anna to Yolanda's spirit ash.

By spending 144 FP, you can summon both Yolanda and Anna simultaneously. If you choose to use the Rainbow of Darkness on Yolanda, the combined ash cannot be obtained. This reward is only available when using the Rainbow of Grace.
