Ultimate Guide: How to Get Armor Spheres in Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the main character hunts monsters that become stronger with each battle. To match your enemy, you must also upgrade your own weapons and armor. This can be done using special resources, such as armor spheres. In this guide, we tell you what to do to stock up on this material for a long time and be ready for an opponent of any power.

Why You Need Armor Spheres

Armor spheres are a material that allows you to improve the characteristics of your armor at Gemma's. They are presented in several categories: there are both regular and enhanced spheres.

Their differences lie in the leveling process. Each sphere gives a certain amount of points, and armor can be improved after collecting a specific number of points. Accordingly, the more difficult the resource extraction process, the more points you will receive for one unit:

  • Regular (10 points).
  • Regular+ (50 points).
  • Advanced (200 units).
  • Sturdy (1000 points).
  • Heavy (5000 points).

How to Get Armor Spheres

Most often, armor spheres can be obtained as a reward for completing a particular task. However, there are other ways to farm them. Let's look at each of them.

For Completing the Main Storyline

Story-wise, we first receive spheres in the challenge "Behind the Rain Wall," specifically after driving away Ut Dunu. Later, we will be told how to use this material with Gemma. However, of course, many spheres will not be given for completing the story, so this option is just a small bonus.

For Completing Alma's Assignments

Collect spheres by completing additional tasks to destroy monsters or responding to help signals from other users. They can be collected at the camp with Alma. One of the first such challenges will be hunting Rednates. Then quests with rewards in the form of armor spheres will appear more often, and the rarity of the resource will depend on the difficulty of the order on the star scale:

  • Two stars — regular.
  • Three stars — regular+.
  • Four or five stars — advanced.
  • Six or seven stars — sturdy.

However, you won't get much material this way: one or two spheres will be given for completing the mission, and you won't really get the heavy variation.

For Temporary Orders

You can complete various temporary orders to receive spheres of different categories as a reward. Towards the end, it becomes a quite convenient way to find items of the highest rarity.

Note that you must have online enabled in the game for temporary quests to appear. Approach any of the support agents, such as Coco. By opening the menu, you can check available applications or collect rewards for completed ones. You will encounter assignments related to enemy destruction, area exploration, and quest completion.

You can also view the entire list of applications through the character menu, the required item is in the same tab as the map. Challenges update automatically as they are only available for a limited time.

For Monster Remains

During the second chapter in the Oil Basin, you will arrive at the Azuz camp. After defeating the local monsters, you will have the opportunity to use the Eternal Forge to smelt monster remains and thus craft armor spheres. This is one of the most effective ways to gather resources.

By opening the necessary menu item at the local blacksmith, we can choose how many items to use for smelting and for which category. The higher the rarity of the defeated opponent, the more valuable the loot, which will allow you to get even more spheres. When ready, simply smelt and receive the desired resource.

For Ancient Wyvern Coins

You can also obtain spheres by exchanging ancient wyvern coins with a merchant at the camp in the Crimson Forest, either directly there or through Natu at your own camp. However, this is quite an unprofitable way to acquire them, as there are much more advantageous offers available for this currency, unless you have accumulated it in excess.

For Participation in Temporary Events

Developers quite often organize various events to reward players with different items. Spheres are no exception: they are generally given out quite generously. You can keep track of special events via this link.
