Hytale is a multiplayer sandbox where players can try their hand at any craft they like. For example, you can farm, hunt, fish, build, or head out into the icy lands to meet hostile natives. In this guide, we'll explain how to find your coordinates. You'll learn how to navigate the game world and get plenty of information on where to check the current status of your environment and character.
How to View Coordinates on the Map
Finding your coordinates is very simple. Just open the world map by pressing the M key. Now, hover the yellow cursor over the blue character icon labeled You. Right-click, and a window will appear: the top line will show the coordinates of the point your cursor is pointing at.
On the map, coordinates are displayed like this:
- X: ±1234, Z: ±1234
How to Navigate Using Coordinates
Imagine overlaying a graph on the map, where X is the horizontal axis (West-East), and Z is the vertical axis (North-South). Every block in the game world has its own place. Accordingly, at any given moment, the player also occupies a specific position. You can describe it with a coordinate system that counts the number of blocks along the X and Z axes.
There's also the Y axis, which describes the height of a block. The entire coordinate system is counted from the zero block, which you can think of as the center of the world. It’s located at coordinates X: 0, Y: 0, Z: 0. You can't go below this zero point; if you delete it in creative mode and fall about -35 blocks, your character will die.
Let's say you need to get from the spawn point to a forgotten temple at coordinates X: -1689, Z: 429. Your character is currently on block X: -1561, Z: 292. If you calculate the difference between the coordinates, you'll see that you need to head southwest. The trip will be a couple hundred blocks.
How to Enable Coordinate Display
There's another way to find your coordinates. Just press the F7 key — Toggle Debug Screens. A long, colorful line will appear at the top left of the screen:
- Pink. Block (X – horizontal, Y – height, Z – vertical): Shows your current coordinates on all axes.
- Green. Feet (X – horizontal, Y – height, Z – vertical): Shows your current coordinates on all axes in feet. The value looks like this: 1234.00.
- Yellow. Chunk (X – horizontal, Z – vertical): Shows the chunk you are currently in.
- Blue. Block ID (X – horizontal, Y – height, Z – vertical): This line appears when the center point of the screen is aimed at a block. The coordinates show the block’s name (ID) and its coordinates.
Pressing F7 again will bring up additional technical information about the current state of the game:
- FPS: Information about your current frames per second.
- Memory: RAM usage.
- Network: Ping and other network traffic details.
- Audio: Audio tracks and sound effects currently playing.
- System: Game version and server information.
- Rendering: Graphics card resource usage.
- World: Detailed information about the current state of the world. We'll break down these indicators in the list below.

Why You Need Coordinates
Understanding how the coordinate system works allows you to easily navigate the world. This makes it much easier to remember the locations of mines, stashes, biomes, and other interesting places. You'll learn to estimate travel time between important points and plan your journeys during long expeditions.
Soon, you’ll start to understand biome generation algorithms, and you’ll be able to predict the spawn probability of zones, locations, and even specific objects and mobs—accurate to within a hundred blocks.
Most importantly, you can now easily share your coordinates with other players.
