Chop a Forest in Roblox has 10 classes, with prices ranging from the free Woodcutter to 4,000 Gems for Clawman. In this guide, we rank every class by tier and explain which ones are worth buying depending on how many Gems you have saved up.

How Classes Work

Chop a Forest Class Tier List: Best Classes Ranked

Each class provides a set of bonuses for every run, affecting chopping power, walking speed, log selling prices, rare tree luck, and carrying capacity, or how many logs you can haul at once. You can buy classes with Gems or Robux at the Class Shop, which is available both in the lobby and during a run.

Keep in mind that the shop's stock is randomized and refreshes every five minutes. The class you want might not be available, and a single restock doesn't guarantee it will appear, so check back regularly. Gems are also used for permanent upgrades, meaning every class purchase comes at the expense of those upgrades.

S Tier

Clawman is a Secret class that costs 4,000 Gems, and nothing else in the game comes close. It grants +200% chopping power, +35% walking speed, +100% sell price, +100% rare tree luck, and +5 carrying capacity. That's a massive boost to every stat at once. It also makes farming Gems much easier, letting you clear runs quickly across different difficulty levels.

The class has just one drawback, but it's a significant one: it rarely appears in the shop. If you don't want to wait, you can buy Clawman through the Clawman Class pass for 1,499 Robux. After that, you probably won't need any other class.

A Tier

Lumber Legend costs 2,700 Gems and grants +100% chopping power, +25% walking speed, +50% sell price, +50% rare tree luck, and +3 carrying capacity. It's essentially a scaled-down version of Clawman. The class is powerful in both solo and team runs, even without a pile of upgrades. You'll earn money quickly, afford better tools in no time, and finish runs noticeably faster.

Ultimate Lumberjack is a Legendary class that costs 1,600 Gems. It provides +50% chopping power, +20% walking speed, and +25% sell price. Compared with the other options, it offers excellent value for the Gems spent. Ultimate Lumberjack is useful in team runs right away, while in solo runs it really shines once you have better tools and increased carrying capacity.

B Tier

Chainsaw Specialist, an Epic class costing 800 Gems, gives +35% chopping power and +10% walking speed. The bonuses are modest but stack well with upgrades purchased during a run, and the extra speed makes things noticeably easier from the start. This class is also almost always in stock, so you can usually pick it up as soon as you have enough Gems.

Timber Titan is a Legendary class costing 1,000 Gems. It grants +60% chopping power and +2 carrying capacity. Trees go down faster, and you can haul more logs per trip. On the downside, it offers no sell price bonus. In solo runs, buy sell price upgrades from the shop. In a team, leave the selling to someone playing Timber Baron.

Forest Reaper, an Epic class costing 500 Gems, provides +20% chopping power and +25% rare tree luck. It's good for making money early in a run and works especially well for the player handling tree chopping in a team. For solo play, pair it with carrying capacity upgrades from the shop, and it becomes a strong option there too.

C Tier

Lumberjack is an Uncommon class costing 180 Gems, with +10% chopping power and +1 carrying capacity. The power boost is barely noticeable, while you can buy a permanent +1 carrying capacity upgrade separately for just 30 Gems. That makes the class a poor use of 180 Gems.

Logmaster is a Rare class costing 270 Gems. It grants +10% sell price and +2 carrying capacity. Both bonuses are available as shop upgrades for fewer Gems, with the same result.

Timber Baron is a Rare class costing 330 Gems and gives +30% sell price. It's a good bonus, but you can get the same increase by investing Gems in sell price upgrades. You're better off saving those Gems for a stronger class.

Woodcutter is the free starting class and provides just +5% chopping power. It has no speed or carrying capacity bonuses, so it's fine at the beginning but quickly falls behind the other classes.

Which Class Should You Choose?

If you have enough Gems, go for Clawman. There's no better option in the game. While you're saving up, use your budget as a guide:

  • At 800 Gems, consider Chainsaw Specialist. It's almost always in stock and makes the start of each run faster.
  • At around 1,000 Gems, Timber Titan is a good choice if chopping trees quickly and carrying more logs are your priorities.
  • For 1,600 Gems, Ultimate Lumberjack offers the best balance of power, speed, and earnings.
  • Starting at 2,700 Gems, you can buy Lumber Legend, the closest alternative to Clawman.

C-tier classes aren't worth buying because their bonuses are cheaper to obtain through permanent upgrades. Sometimes it's smarter to pick a simpler class and save your Gems for those upgrades. There are four upgrade paths: log sell price, mutation luck, Gem value, and log bundle size.

How to Get Gems

You earn Gems for every completed run, with the amount depending on your completion time and difficulty. Gems can also drop randomly from any tree you chop down. Once you've cut down 1,500 trees, you'll unlock a vault near the garage that contains a Gem reward. Don't forget the daily reward, either: you can claim it to the left of the Class Shop every six hours. In the same area, you can also get a one-time reward of 100 Gems for liking the game, adding it to your favorites, and joining the developers' group.

We hope this tier list helps you avoid wasting your Gems. Happy chopping!
