New Death Stranding 2 Trailer Drops — Kojima Reveals Story Details and Release Date

Hideo Kojima has officially unveiled a new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The 10-minute video premiered at SXSW 2025, showcasing fresh footage and confirming the game's release date—June 26.

The sequel takes place 11 months after the events of Death Stranding. The United Cities of America now rely on a network of automated couriers, new religious factions have emerged, and mysterious portals have begun appearing across continents.

To survive another impending catastrophe, Sam Bridges must travel to different parts of the world while also searching for Lou, the baby from the first game.

The trailer introduces several new characters: Rainy, the President, Lucy, the Doctor, and Neil—the latter bearing similarities to Cliff from the first game and Solid Snake.

Pre-orders open on March 17. The standard edition will cost $70, while the deluxe version—featuring bonus cosmetics and two-day early access—will be priced at $80. A $230 collector’s edition will also be available, including a letter from Kojima, a statue, a postcard set, and a Dollman keychain.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5.
