Restoring the Golden Path in Genshin Impact: How to Return the Phantom Birds

«Restoring the Golden Path» in Genshin Impact is a complex series of quests within the larger «Odes of Harmony» questline. In this guide, we'll detail how to complete each of these quests. You'll learn how to return the phantom birds and restore the Golden Path. We'll also provide information on the rewards you can receive after completing these tasks.

The Stairway to the Capitol

In the new region, players can activate several teleport waypoints, as well as use Scylla for fast travel. Simply aim the screen at the creature, then press the corresponding button (key T on PC). Scylla can also summon currents if necessary.

How to Defeat the Golems

Head to the entrance of the Golden Castle, where a lengthy cutscene will start. Immediately after it ends, gamers will find themselves in an unexplored space, where they must fight alone against several huge golems.

Killing the enemies is pointless — just try not to die in the first few minutes of the fight. After some time, the battle will end, and another video with Cassiodorus will start. Returning to Scylla, the heroes will tell the creature about what happened in Boethius' astral palace, and the quest will update. Now you need to restore the Golden Paths.

Restoring the Golden Path I

Follow Scylla — the creature will be waiting for you at the fresco with the phantom birds. First, interact with the device opposite the furnace and set the correct position, as shown in the screenshot below (down, down, left, left, left).

Look around and find the phantom birds. To return them to their original position, simply swim up to each one. When all the phantoms are in their places, the challenge will be completed, a rich chest will appear, and the main part of the Golden Path will be restored.

Restoring the Golden Path II

Follow Scylla and stop at the golden bee. Wait until it starts moving, then enter the cave and activate the teleport. On the wall in the dungeon, you will see a familiar fresco: interact with the device (right, right, right, up) to set the correct position, then start searching for the phantoms.

The first bird flies to the left of the mechanism. Escort it to the fresco, and along the way, you can pick up a hydroculus.

The second bird is located on the right side and is surrounded by several Anemo slimes. Destroy them until they stop appearing. At this moment, the bird will head to the fresco on its own.

Inspect the contents of the precious chest that appears here after completing the challenge, then return to Scylla. When the Golden Path is restored, the quest will be completed, and the final quest «Sores of Sorrowful Destiny» will begin.

Rewards:

  • Adventure Experience (300);
  • Primogems (40);
  • Hero's Wit (2);
  • Mora (30,000);
  • Mystic Enhancement Ore (3).

Sores of Sorrowful Destiny

Swim to the entrance of the Golden Palace, and after the cutscene, a QTE will start, where you need to press the buttons appearing on the screen in time. Having made a full circle around the Golden Path, the hero will find themselves in the castle.

Activate the teleport, run along the only path and pick up a hydroculus. Soon you will find yourself in a hall with Boethius, the traitor whom Scylla asked to destroy. The fight will be divided into several parts, but nothing difficult is anticipated. As soon as you eliminate the enemy's protection, the first cutscene will start.

Continue to strike the enemy. When his health level drops below half, a second video with Cassiodorus and Phobos will begin. After the cutscene, you will only need to finish off the boss.

At the end of the quest, interact with the harp and perform another small QTE. Note that if you miss pressing the keys, the melody will loop — you will have to repeat the last square again.

For completing all quests in the «Odes of Harmony» chain, you will receive the corresponding achievement in the «Rhapsody of the Ancient Sea» section, as well as the sixth part of the Ancient Score.

Rewards:

  • Adventure Experience (350);
  • Primogems (40);
  • Hero's Wit (4);
  • Mora (30,000);
  • Mystic Enhancement Ore (4).
