Everything about Razor in Genshin Impact: builds, artifacts, weapons, skills, and how to obtain

Looking for the best build for Razor in Genshin Impact? Razor is an Electro character who lives among wolves in Wolvendom near Mondstadt. He wields a claymore and is a valuable member of any team. However, as a four-star character, he is much easier to acquire than some of the more elite characters in Genshin Impact. This is convenient for players who do not want to spend their money on the game.

How to get Razor

There's a high chance to randomly receive Razor. He is part of the standard Wish, Wanderlust Invocation, which also features five-star characters Mona, Qiqi, and Keqing, along with 13 other four-star heroes and various weapons. He can also be purchased in the shop for 34 Starglitter.

Even if you hadn't planned on using Razor in your squad, he can still be a great team member if you know how to use him.

Razor's Art

Active Talents

Razor provides a stable combination of regular attacks, Electro damage, one-on-one combat, area damage, group buffs, and cooldown acceleration. He's a true asset in a team, primarily as a healer. He may not become your dream character compared to some five-star contenders, but he can be quite useful in the early stages of the game.

Razor is highly valued as one of the best four-star characters in the entire game, and it's easy to see why when you look at the damage he can deal.

As an Electro character wielding a claymore, Razor performs well in groups that can cause elemental reactions: Cryo, Pyro, and Hydro help deal massive damage.

Normal Attack: Steel Fang

  • Normal Attack: Performs up to four consecutive sword strikes;
  • Charged Attack: Spins around, hitting all surrounding enemies, continuously consuming stamina.
  • After spinning, performs an additional strong sword attack;
  • Plunging Attack: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging enemies along the path and dealing AoE damage upon landing.

Elemental Skill: Claw and Thunder

Tracks down prey using techniques and methods he learned from his master and his pack.

  • Press: Strikes with the claws of the thunder wolf, dealing Electro damage to enemies in front. Upon hitting, Razor gains an Electro Sigil, which increases his Energy recharge rate. Razor can have up to 3 Electro Sigils simultaneously. Gaining a new Sigil refreshes their duration.
  • Hold: Gathers Electro energy to unleash a small area storm causing huge Electro damage and removes all Razor's Electro Sigils. Each removed Sigil is converted into Energy for Razor.

Elemental Burst: Lightning Fang

Awakens the inner wolf, dealing Electro damage to all nearby enemies. Activating the skill consumes all of Razor's Electro Sigils, converting them into Energy for Razor. During the skill's duration, the wolf joins Razor in battle.

Inner Wolf:

  • Attacks alongside Razor's normal attacks, dealing Electro damage;
  • Increases Razor's attack speed and Electro RES;
  • Grants Razor immunity to damage from the Charged status;
  • Razor's Charged Attacks become unavailable;
  • Enhances Razor's resistance to interruption.

These effects end when Razor leaves combat. When Razor leaves combat, the remaining skill duration is converted into Energy for him. Max 10 Energy units.

Passive Talents

  • Awakening: Reduces Claw and Thunder's cooldown by 18%, also using Lightning Fang fully resets its cooldown;
  • Hunger: Razor's Energy Recharge is increased by 30% when his Energy falls below 50%;
  • Wolvensprint: Reduces stamina consumption of the active character during sprint by 20%. Does not stack with Passive Talents that provide the exact same effects.

Constellations

To activate each star, one Stella Fortuna is needed. Stars can only be unlocked in sequence. Up to six Stellas Fortuna can be obtained for each character. To obtain Stella Fortuna, a duplicate of the character is required from wishes.

  • Wolf's Instinct: Picking up elemental orbs or particles increases Razor's damage by 10% for 8 seconds;
  • Suppression: Increases CRIT Rate against enemies with less than 30% HP by 10%;
  • Soul Companion: Increases the level of Lightning Fang by 3. Maximum level: 15;
  • Bite: Claw and Thunder's press version reduces enemy defense by 15% for 7 seconds upon hitting;
  • Sharpened Claws: Increases the level of Claw and Thunder by 3. Maximum level: 15;
  • Lupus Fulguris: Every 10 seconds, Razor's sword charges up, causing the next normal attack to release lightning, dealing Electro damage equal to 100% of Razor's Attack. If Razor is not under the effect of Lightning Fang, each lightning strike generates an Electro Sigil for Claw and Thunder.

Character Ascension Materials

To ascend Razor, you'll need to hunt various creatures and collect materials. You'll need to hunt the Electro Hypostasis and various hilichurls. Wolfhook can be found in Mondstadt, often growing at the base of dead trees and near bushes.

Build for Maximum Damage. Best Artifacts and Weapon for the Build, Team

Start every attack with the Thunder Fang skill. As soon as you hit, switch to regular combo attacks, but make a dash right before the last hit. The last strike from a four-hit combo is very slow and does not deal much damage — dash to cancel the animation and repeat the regular combo of attacks again. You should be able to attack with the Thunder Fang skill after going through two cycles of regular attacks.

Thunder Claw increases the speed of each attack and provides additional Electro damage with each hit. You can use the extra attack speed by performing regular combos, as the last hit will not take much time. Use the Wolf's Gravestone sword to deal as much damage as possible. If you do not have this five-star weapon, you can take the four-star Prototype: Archaic instead.

Although Razor indeed deals Electro damage, most of his hits are from regular attacks. Focus on artifacts that increase attack, physical damage, and critical hit chance.

To maximize damage, it's important to understand how to effectively use your elemental reactions. Unlike some other high-damage characters in Genshin Impact, Razor requires you to constantly switch between different team members because he relies on additional damage from elemental reactions.

The team for Razor in Genshin Impact: Cryo characters such as Qiqi and Diona pair well with Razor, as you can continuously deal area damage with the Superconduct reaction. Zhongli and Venti are also suitable, as they do not need to be active in combat for too long.

Weapon

Razor can use five-star or four-star weapons. The four-star sword is easier to obtain, as it can be forged.

Four Stars

Prototype: Archaic (Prototype Aminus): On hitting with normal or charged attacks, has a 50% chance to deal an additional 240% damage in a small radius. Can occur once every 15 seconds. The sword can be forged, requiring: Northlander Claymore Billet, 50 crystal chunks, 50 white iron chunks, and 500 Mora.

Five Stars

If you want to use Razor with a five-star sword, you won't find anything better than Wolf's Gravestone.

Wolf's Gravestone: Increases attack power by 20%. When hitting a target with HP less than 30%, increases the attack power of all squad members by 40% for 12 seconds. Can occur no more than once every 30 seconds. The sword can be obtained through wishes.

Artifact

Gladiator's Finale: 2-piece set: increases ATK by 18%. 4-piece set: increases normal attack damage by 35% if the character is using a sword, claymore, or polearm. It can be obtained from world bosses at world level 2 and above.

Build for a Support Character. Best Artifacts and Weapon for the Build

However, some players want Razor to fulfill a support role, but he is not the most suitable hero for this. He can apply an Electro effect to opponents, but it will only work for one hit.

Razor is designed to be at the forefront of the team, as he does not have any support set. Razor's combat style is aggressive. His elemental skill and burst are meant to enhance him, and his weapon class helps deal damage.

But if you are determined to use him as a support character, you can use the following build.

Weapon

For this build, Razor can also use the Prototype: Archaic and Wolf's Gravestone swords. But the artifact will have to be replaced.

Artifact

Thundering Fury Set: 2-piece set: increases Electro DMG bonus by 15%. 4-piece set: increases damage caused by Overloaded, Electro-Charged, and Superconduct by 40%. Triggering these effects decreases elemental skill cooldown by 1 second. Can occur once every 0.8 seconds. It can be obtained in the Midsummer Courtyard domain.

Dodge his area, tail, and paw swipe attacks. It's better to attack from the side or behind. If you move too far away, the boss may leap to close the distance.
