John Ternus is the chief executive officer of Apple: he took the job on September 1, 2026, succeeding Tim Cook. He is 51 and an engineer by training. Ternus has been at the company since 2001 — he joined in the Steve Jobs era, became vice president of hardware engineering in 2013, and from 2021 was in charge of all of Apple's hardware: iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the watch.
