Logitech Unveils a Keyboard That Charges Itself Using Light
Logitech has announced the start of sales for its Signature Slim Solar+ K950 wireless keyboard. The standout feature is its complete departure from traditional charging. The device operates solely on light, and not just sunlight. Instead of a standard USB charging port or a battery compartment, the keyboard's frame features a light-absorbing panel. Logitech's Logi LightCharge technology allows the built-in battery to be powered by both daylight and a standard desk lamp.
According to the manufacturer, a full charge can keep the keyboard running for up to four months in total darkness, so you don't have to worry about it suddenly dying. The battery itself is rated to last for about 10 years. If needed, the battery can be replaced by the user, further extending the device's lifespan.
The K950 model sports a slim design with low-profile scissor-switch keys. It features a full-size layout, including a number pad. The keyboard supports simultaneous connection to three devices (PC, laptop, tablet, or phone) via Bluetooth, with switching between them accomplished by a single keystroke.
The Signature Slim Solar+ K950 is positioned as a solution for those looking to minimize desk clutter and eliminate the hassle of charging peripherals. The lack of ports also makes the design more resistant to dust and accidental liquid spills. Also of particular interest is the new AI Launch Key, which can be customized for quick access to popular AI services like Copilot, ChatGPT, or Gemini, or programmed for any other function.
The Logitech Signature Slim Solar+ K950 keyboard is already available for purchase with a recommended price of $99.99. Additionally, an announcement for Logitech's flagship mouse, the MX Master 4, is expected at the end of September, after its specifications were previously leaked online.
One of its key innovations will be the Haptic Sense feedback system. This will allow the mouse to provide tactile signals when switching between computers, adjusting cursor settings, or receiving notifications. Next to the haptic feedback zone is an "Actions Ring" — a control element that brings up a dynamic on-screen menu. This provides quick access to frequently used functions and commands, which, according to the manufacturer, can speed up workflow.
