Logitech has officially announced the launch of its new flagship mouse, the MX Master 4. A key design update is the integration of haptic feedback; a subtle vibration occurs under the thumb when using the command interface called the Actions Ring. This menu, which pops up on-screen, provides quick access to frequently used functions in specific applications like Photoshop or Excel. The button to activate this gesture menu has been relocated to the side of the mouse, altering the device's ergonomics.
Logitech also focused on wireless stability. The company claims that an optimized antenna has doubled the reliability of the mouse's connection to the computer compared to the previous series, reducing the risk of dropouts in environments with a lot of electronic interference. As a result of these additions, the mouse isn't exactly light, coming in at 150 grams.
The MX Master 4's body is made from recycled plastic, which developers say is more resistant to smudges and wear. It houses a battery that can last up to 70 days on a single charge. Logitech notes that active use of the haptic feedback will reduce this battery life, but for emergencies, a fast-charge feature is included: just one minute of charging via the USB-C cable provides up to three hours of use.
The mouse retains Logitech's signature MagSpeed scroll wheel with hyper-fast scrolling, silent clicks, and a high-precision sensor with adjustable sensitivity up to 8,000 DPI. The device can pair with up to three different gadgets simultaneously and switch between them seamlessly, confirming all the earlier leaks about the device.
The mouse will be available in two color options: Graphite and Pale Grey. Logitech will also release a separate "for Mac" version in a silver-and-white and a black finish, tailored for Apple users. The MX Master 4 is scheduled to go on sale in October with a price tag of $119.99.
