Google is continuing to adapt the interface of its main search page to accommodate its expanding functionality. Recently, a new menu marked with a "Plus" sign appeared in the desktop version of google.com, replacing the familiar magnifying glass icon on the left side of the search bar.
Clicking the icon opens a dropdown list with two options: "Upload Image" or "Upload File." This feature, previously available within AI Mode, is now being brought to the forefront. The change is designed to clearly show that the modern search engine can be used to solve specific tasks, not just to find information on the web.
This new feature is currently only noted in the desktop web version. It is currently active in regions where AI Mode is enabled and is gradually rolling out globally.
In parallel, Google is making pinpoint changes to its mobile apps as well. In the iOS version, the "Home" tab now displays a button that opens the AI Mode query history, replacing the Google Labs icon; a similar function is not yet present on Android devices. Also, on the AI Mode homepage, the button to access history has been moved to the left side, while the "Back" and "Close" controls have been shifted to the right.
These steps are part of the gradual integration of artificial intelligence tools into the search engine's core user interface.
