On August 20, Black Myth: Wukong, an adventure game about the Chinese mythical hero Monkey King, was released on PC and PS5. It took the newcomer only three hours to reach a record 1.4 million concurrent players on Steam.
According to SteamDB, the exact number of concurrent players is 1,443,570. At the time of writing, this is the most popular title by current online count on Steam, surpassing Counter-Strike 2, Banana, and Dota 2.
Black Myth: Wukong also broke Dota 2's record, whose peak online count in history was 1,295,114 players. Moreover, the action game became the most successful single-player project on the platform, surpassing Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur's Gate 3, and Elden Ring.
Currently, the game's rating is 94% based on 20 thousand reviews. The Steam Scout service notes that 85% of them are written by Chinese players.
