This real-time city-building simulation takes place in California during the Gold Rush of 1849. Players build settlements, bring in workers, and provide them with housing, food, and entertainment. Helping towns prosper means coordinating production and trade across complex networks.

The campaign follows the Gold Rush from mining camps to bustling cities, with scenarios that vary in starting conditions, objectives, and obstacle events. In sandbox mode, the building site is procedurally generated according to its geography, rainfall, available resources, and starting lot size. Towns can produce more than 50 resources through mining, farming, refining, and manufacturing.
