An arcade flight simulator with action elements, Air Conflicts: Vietnam is set during the Vietnam War. Its story follows US Navy pilot Joe Thompson, while the “Lost Letters” campaign also puts players in the role of Vietnamese pilot Nguyen An Toon.

Missions feature more than 20 aircraft and helicopters from the era. In some assignments, the pilot leaves the cockpit to operate guns and defend against attacks. When several aircraft take part in a mission, each can be equipped and upgraded individually, and the player can command the entire squadron.
