On August 5, 2026, buyers of the cloud version of Aliens: Fireteam Elite for Nintendo Switch lost access to the game: the servers were shut down, and no refunds were issued. Less than two months earlier, the European Commission had declined to introduce mandatory rules requiring publishers to preserve access to sold games after support ends.
