In Car Mechanic Simulator 2018, the player restores a rusty vessel to the state of a new, tuned car. Released for PC on July 28, 2017, it offers a single-player mode with a storyline.

This is a full-fledged car mechanic simulator, featuring every component of a car: from the engine to the transmission, from the front bumper to the rear spoiler. The aggregates are also divided into many basic components, like pistons in the engine or gears in the transmission.

A novelty of CMS18 is a decent level of graphics, detailed models of cars and components, rivaling major racing simulators in quality, as well as a realistic physics model. Depending on the assembly, the car may slip, brake poorly, or behave unstably, so the player must adjust the balance of their restored vehicle.

In Car Mechanic Simulator 2018, there is no open game world, but there is a map with points for workshops, barns with car junk, junkyards, car dealerships, and test tracks. Most of the time, the player spends in the workshop, where they start the game with only basic equipment.

By completing storyline missions, finding and restoring cars for subsequent sale, the player earns experience and money. Experience grants levels that unlock new opportunities and abilities, while money can be used to purchase additional equipment, new garage features, and parts from stores.

The storyline offers not so much to dig into the details, but to work with clients and build a car repair business empire: a client brings their car to you, says "something is not working" or "the engine is knocking," and now your task is to determine and fix the malfunction as quickly as possible.

At the initial stage, the garage has neither modern equipment nor computer diagnostics. You have to disassemble each unit by hand, check it visually, and think a lot about what and where is broken.

Sometimes, it is enough just to assemble and disassemble the mechanism, cleaning and lubricating it. More complex malfunctions involve non-working elements of the mechanism that need to be found. The higher the level of the workshop, the more complex the malfunction and the more parts will not work.

In single-player mode, the player must run around junkyards and barns, searching for car junk to restore. The idea is to find a chassis cheaply, repair everything, and sell the finished car for a high price.

There is a lot of work to do, and it is divided into stages. First, you need to assemble the aggregates: The engine, transmission, gearbox, wheels, for which you will need to find suitable parts in stores and then install them. Next, you need to take care of the appearance - equip the car with headlights, doors, windows, and choose the interior. The final stage is painting in your workshop and test driving.

For this work, a well-equipped workshop is required: several stands and cranes (for engines or shock absorbers), lifts, welding machines, diagnostic and repair tools. You need to go out to test tracks to check the suspension or brakes.
