A strategy game about the Cold War rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union, spanning the 1950s to the 1990s. Arms Race can be played in real-time or turn-based mode, with the player choosing a side and seeking to shape the course of events.
Players deploy military units and conduct espionage to bolster allied governments or support opposition groups in other countries. Spy networks help run propaganda campaigns and undermine an opponent’s influence, while pro-government parades and unrest can also be organised or incited. Military research and the Space Race add further strategic options, and events on the world map can have global consequences.
